Rituals & Routines
Perhaps the most powerful of all tools, is the use of daily routines to strengthen your bond to your beliefs. Being one of the most powerful tools makes it, without doubt, one of the hardest to master. I can tell you from my own experience.
You must begin each and every day with the intention of being the best you that you can be. Even better than you were yesterday. It is a well known fact that the first few moments of your day will shape how you interact throughout that particular day. You know the expression about getting out of the wrong side of bed don't you?
Many successful, happy and fulfilled people have strict routines and rituals which they complete each and every morning before they present themselves to the world. It may be an exercise plan, writing in their journal, meditation or taking the dog for a walk. The idea here is the configure all of your systems correctly in order to face the world in a prepared state.
This preparation each day is what will distinguish you from those around you. Whatever you choose as your morning "ritual" will actually transform your life forever. So why, I hear you ask, is it so difficult. The sad fact is that few of us have the self discipline to maintain such routines for any significant length of time.
So what I am suggesting is another approach. Fill your day with micro-routines which can be carried out without placing too demands on your self. Take a different kind of break during work to read a few pages of a good book, or maybe walk around the block to clear your mind, or just find somewhere quite to sit peacefully and reflect on your performance.
For you to really benefit from routines and rituals you MUST complete them without excuse. You will only have yourself to blame.
